Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that Nigeria is firmly on a path of stability and progress under the current administration.
Fubara made the assertion in Port Harcourt while inaugurating the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council, a high-level gathering of monarchs from all 17 southern states convened to tackle pressing issues of unity, security, and economic growth.
Projecting confidence, the governor highlighted what he described as tangible gains in economic recovery and infrastructure expansion, pointing specifically to ongoing coastal road projects. He warned against policy inconsistency, cautioning that abrupt shifts in governance could derail progress.
“It is not ideal to change the goalpost in the middle of the game,” Fubara stressed, urging Nigerians to sustain support for ongoing reforms.
He further called on political leaders, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders across Southern Nigeria to forge stronger alliances, insisting that unity remains the backbone of lasting peace and development.
Fubara also showcased Rivers State as a secure and stable environment, noting that hosting such a significant gathering of royal fathers underscores the state’s readiness for major national engagements.
In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who chairs the council, underscored the importance of the meeting in deepening regional cohesion.
He described Southern Nigeria as a culturally diverse region united by shared values, pointing out that hundreds of dialects spoken across the states reflect a rich heritage of unity in diversity.
According to the monarch, the council provides a strategic platform for traditional rulers to engage, deliberate, and collaborate on solutions to security and economic challenges while complementing government efforts.
The meeting attracted prominent royal fathers from the South-South, South-East, and South-West, reinforcing a collective resolve to strengthen regional cooperation and national development.
