The General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has described the prolonged political conflict between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a spiritual battle beyond human intervention.

Ibiyeomie stated that no mortal effort can resolve the standoff, insisting that only divine intervention can bring lasting peace to Rivers State’s political landscape.

The cleric made the remarks while addressing members of his Port Harcourt-based congregation in a sermon that has since gone viral on social media.

Drawing from the state’s political history, Ibiyeomie traced a recurring pattern of political fallouts between successors and their benefactors. He recalled that former governor Rufus Ada George was locked in a political battle with his successor, Peter Odili; Odili later fell out with Chibuike Amaechi, whom he helped to power; Amaechi also clashed with his political protégé, Nyesom Wike; and now Governor Fubara is embroiled in a dispute with Wike.

According to the pastor, the cycle will persist regardless of political negotiations or interventions, including those from the Presidency.

“Because if God speaks to me, I will say it. No mortal man, I repeat, can solve the problem of Rivers State,” Ibiyeomie said. “It is not a physical problem.”

He questioned the effectiveness of previous attempts to resolve the crisis, noting that even presidential intervention has failed to bring a permanent solution.

Ibiyeomie further warned that the same fate would befall any successor chosen by Governor Fubara at the end of his tenure, arguing that the crisis is deeply rooted and not political in nature.

“Even if Sim picks somebody today, the person will fight him,” he added. “It is a spiritual problem.”
