Members of a suspected terrorist gang were slain by Imo State Police Command anti-kidnap squad operators in the state’s Aboh-Mbaise local council.
During the procedure, the officials also found weapons and ammo. The operation was carried out by the squad, under the leadership of Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), after several suspects who were paraded last weekend confessed, according to police spokesperson Henry Okoye, who made this announcement in Owerri yesterday.
As a result, Ebube Virus and Ishaka were killed during the assault of a criminal hideaway in Umuogu Amuzu in Aboh-Mbaise. According to Okoye, on Monday of last week, the two individuals murdered an Inspector of Police as well as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahiazu Mbaise.
The statement read as follows: “On December 4, 2023, members of the command’s anti-kidnapping team, under the leadership of CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, attacked the criminal hideaway of a lethal terrorist gang commanded by Ebube Virus and Ishaka, in Umuogu Amuzu in the Aboh-Mbaise local government of Imo State and drove the terrorists out.
During the process, a ferocious battle with combat-ready police agents neutralized the second-in-command of Ebube Virus, a notorious person on the wanted list for his evil deeds in the Mbaise axis. Some managed to flee with bullet wounds. From the terrorists, one AK-47 weapon with 19 rounds of live ammo was found.
The operation “is in progress to track down other fleeing suspects and make them face the full wrath of the law,” a police official said.
Aboki Danjuma, the state’s commissioner of police, praised the officers’ efforts in fighting all types of violent crimes. In order to create a safe and secure Imo both before and after the holidays, he restated the command’s commitment to working with sister security services. He urged hospital and first-aid facility proprietors to notify the closest police station about any patients who had been shot.
