The appeal filed by Peter Obi to nullify President Bola Tinubu’s election has been deferred by the Supreme Court.

The decision was issued by a seven-member Supreme Court panel led by John Okoro on Monday following the parties’ legal arguments.

Mr. Okoro stated, “This appeal is reserved for judgment until a date to be communicated to parties.”

Livy Uzoukwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who represented Mr. Obi, pleaded with the court to grant his client’s appeal during the hearing.

He asked that the ruling from the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja, which had upheld Mr. Tinubu’s election on September 6, be overturned.

But Wole Olanipekun, a SAN, Mr. Tinubu’s attorney, contended that Mr. Obi’s lawsuit was without merit.

The court was persuaded to dismiss the appeal by Mr. Olanipekun.

Through its attorney, Akin Olujinmi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) requested that the court sustain the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Court, which upheld Mr. Tinubu’s election.
