Tunji Wusu –

The governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde, committed to the process of maintaining the peace, unity, and progress of Yorubaland by attending a gathering of thought leaders in the pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, on Tuesday.

The governor announced that certain frontline leaders in Afenifere had resolved to settle the disagreements between the two heads of the group, Pa Reuben Fasoranti and Pa Ayo Adebanjo, when he spoke shortly after the meeting held at the Otunba Subomi Balogun Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

He declared that now that the general election had been completed, it was time to start the process of bringing the two leaders together for the benefit of Yoruba land as a whole.

“We are all aware of the issues between our two Afenifere leaders; Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Pa Reuben Fasoranti,” the governor continued, adding that the procedure will go quickly.

In essence, partisan and election-related problems are no longer relevant, and the Yoruba race’s unity is the topic at hand. These frontline leaders decided it was appropriate to unite in order to begin the process of pursuing unification in Yorubaland.

And we are aware that when our two Babas unite, Nigeria would finally achieve the merited unity. When Yorubaland is together, Nigeria is united, and whenever we face problems or difficulties in Yorubaland, they frequently spread to other parts of Nigeria, if you look at it in the right light.

You may be sure we won’t put it off, I can assure you of that. We’ll start working right away, and I have no doubt that we’ll achieve our goal in the least amount of time.

The governor expressed his belief that once they saw Pa Fasoranti and Pa Adebanjo reunited, all Yoruba people would put aside their divisions caused by problems between the two leaders.

“Everything else will fall into place once you tie the knot in the right spots. They will be the ones to appeal to the masses once our people watch the two leaders meet and converse.

You won’t need to say anything at that point because everyone will have noticed that the leaders had reconciled.

Afenifere officials including Mr. Jare Ajayi, the national publicity secretary, Chief Eric Oluwole (Ondo), Mr. Dare Babarinsa (Ekiti), Chief Korede Duyile, Chief Leke Mabinuori, Rt. Hon. Bakkita Olufowobi Bello, and Chief Diran Adesua were present at the meeting.

Leaders of Afenifere Oyo included Chief Mrs. Bola Doherty, Chief Babatunde Tijani, Dr. Gbola Adetunji (chairman), Dr. Akin Onigbinde (SAN), and others.
