The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) plans to launch a microfinance institution to support employee welfare by empowering them financially and preventing any form of financial embarrassment.
While meeting the managing director of Mutual Trust Micro Finance Bank at the Corps National Headquarters in Abuja, Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi announced this and said the proposal will help to foster optimal performance and boost worker productivity.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations for the NSCDC, Mr. Olusola Odumosu, Audi reaffirmed that his administration places a high priority on staff welfare and that one way to further this goal is through creative programs like the microfinance program, which directly improves the lives of his employees.
He reaffirmed that the Corps would build on its connection with and expertise with Mutual Trust, a leading provider of microloans in the nation, to establish its own microfinance bank.
Buhari will introduce new naira notes on Wednesday.
He confirmed that the Corps has the necessary authorization to start operations, and that the NSCDC Cooperative Society is working hard to get things going.
“We already have our operation license, but we are currently conducting extensive consultations to make sure we do it correctly.
According to CG, “The NSCDC microfinance bank is a revolutionary idea that was deliberately developed to lessen the financial constraints of my people toward financial freedom.”
In response, Mr. Josh Oyebisi, MD/CEO of Mutual Trust Microfinance Bank, said that he had previously served as a volunteer member of the Corps in Oyo State.
He expressed his satisfaction and happiness at the Corps’ transformation into a reliable paramilitary organization of the government that is carrying out its mission and receiving recognition on a global scale.
He reaffirmed that the bank is prepared and willing to provide effective corporate banking services to the Corps for the benefit of all personnel, based on the long-standing partnership between the two parties.
He affirmed that the opportunity to finalize the required logistics and the take-off date, which will be publicized as soon as possible, will be presented by the meeting with the CG.

The Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA) has been tasked by the CG to aid in the expansion and development of the Corps.
He claimed that unwavering support, collaboration, prayers, and a calm environment at home—all of which are crucial for their husband’s mental and physical well-being—can make this feasible.
The CG emphasized that a worker’s mental state, outputs, and performance are directly correlated with their home situation, and vice versa.
“Your spouses have been given a lot of responsibility in an effort to secure the country; we need your full cooperation and support to perform admirably and complete our assigned tasks,” the CG added.
On behalf of the organization, the CDOWA President, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Audi, thanked the Commandant General for his inspiration and support.
She claimed that in order for the association’s proposed Secretariat and its school projects, which would involve money from the entire Corps, to have a lasting impact, they need greater backing.
As they recognize the contributions their husbands make to the development of the country, she pledged that CDOWA will continue to support their spouses by working to ensure peaceful coexistence both at home and in the country.
The CG expressed appreciation for the visit and promised to continue supporting the Association even after his tenure.
