Nigerian politician and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared the ADC as the only viable platform capable of rescuing Nigeria from its current political and governance crises.

Speaking on AIT’s Kakaaki, Okonkwo said the party is driven by a clear, people-centered mission that prioritizes national welfare over personal or partisan interests. He argued that the ADC was founded as a response to what he described as systemic failure under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okonkwo accused the APC of incompetence and corruption, insisting that Nigeria’s current challenges reflect poor leadership choices sustained by the ruling party. He maintained that the ADC offers a structured and principled alternative anchored on accountability and service to the people.

He also questioned the political strategy of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, noting that while Obi frequently speaks about building a “New Nigeria,” the ADC presents a more credible and practical vehicle for achieving meaningful national reform.

According to Okonkwo, individuals defecting to the ADC are not doing so impulsively but after a careful review of the party’s constitution and leadership structure. He said these new members are convinced by the quality of leaders driving the party’s vision and its commitment to genuine national transformation.

“The whole reason for ADC is for the welfare of our people and the welfare of our nation,” Okonkwo said, adding that Nigeria’s current political realities offer little hope under existing party leaderships.

He stressed that a sober assessment of the country’s condition underscores the urgency for Nigerians to embrace a new political direction, which he believes the ADC represents.
