Ekiti state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi at weekend urged residents solicited for more of People’s supports with the Government towards solving insecurity problems in the Country.

The Governor who made the assertion at the weekend insisted that only peoples efforts and supports with the governments can solve the insecurity problems in the country.

Fayemi who spoke during the commissioning of a police station donated to Ilupeju Divisional Headquarters in Ikere-Ekiti by Assistant Inspector General of Police, Tunde Ogunsakin (retd) noted that efforts from stakeholders must be geared towards ensuring maximum security of lives and property in the state

The three Police stations in Ikere Ekiti community which is the second largest comunity in the state were badly affected as they were vandalized and burnt down by hoodlums during the #EndSARS protest last year.

Fayemi who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana (retd) showered praises on the donor for his contributions at lifting the security situation in the state.

The Governor however called on other individuals to support the government in every possible way in order to reduce if not eradicate all forms of  criminalities in the state, adding that this was the only way insecurity problems in the country could be solved

According to him, “I am happy to be here to commission this laudable project by one of our illustrious sons in the state. Nothing is too small to be donated to the police; they need our support in order to ensure security of lives and property especially at the grassroots.”

Ogunsakin while speaking said that he embarked on the project to give back to the community and also improve the security situation which he said was largely affected following the #EndSARS protest that led to the destruction of the police stations in the community.

Represented by his wife Mrs Chinyere Ogunsakin, he said, ” On hearing the news of the destruction of the three police stations in my community , my heart bled and all the while , I kept planning and strategizing on how to contribute my quota to bringing it back to life.

“As a retired Senior Police officer and also a security consultant, I acknowledge the urgent need to rebuild the broken walls of security in the town as it will increase the level of security consciousness in the community and its environs, restoring business operations and economic advancement back to normal.”

The Commissioner of police, Mr Tunde Mobayo said the gesture by the retired police boss would be remembered in history and that police officers would do everything possible to ensure the security of lives and property in the community and the state at large.
