Officers from the Kano State Police Command have successfully saved a two-year-old boy who was snatched from his home. The child was taken from the Gwammaja Quarters in the Dala Local Government Area on 19 April. After the boy was abducted, his family went through a terrifying ordeal. The kidnappers demanded a payment of N1 million for his release. However, the criminals refused to let the boy go “despite receiving the ransom”.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, took swift action by sending the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to find the child. This led to what officials called “a major operational breakthrough”. Through a sustained intelligence-led operation, the police tracked down the kidnappers to a secret hideout. They arrested three young men named Hassan Umar, Abdullahi Hamisu, and Hussaini Saminu. All three suspects live in the same area where the boy was taken.
During the raid, the police found the little boy at the home of one of the suspects. Thankfully, “he was successfully rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family,” according to the official report. The police also managed to get back N930,000, which was most of the money the family had paid. This sustained intelligence-led operation shows how hard the police are working to keep the city safe.
Commissioner Bakori praised his team for their tactical precision and bravery. He warned that the state will remain a dangerous place for criminals. He promised to use every resource to catch anyone who breaks the law. The three suspects are currently being held while the police finish their investigation. Once the file is ready, they will face charges in court for this sustained intelligence-led operation success.
How can local communities work more closely with the police to prevent child abductions?
