By Babatunji Wusu| Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, has called on citizens to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms will deliver noticeable improvements in electricity supply across the country.
Speaking during an interview with TV Platinum, Tegbe said the government remains committed to addressing the longstanding challenges facing the power sector and ensuring that Nigerians enjoy more reliable electricity.
He appealed for patience and cooperation from the public, stressing that current efforts are beginning to produce positive results.
“We are calling on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Also pray for us. Whatever challenges this country is plagued with, by God’s grace, we will overcome them and we’ll get there,” he said.
The minister noted that reports from across the country suggest that power supply improvement is already becoming evident.
“Very soon, Nigeria will be lit up. We’ll see visible improvement. Nigerians have been giving me feedback that power supply has improved across Nigeria in the last four weeks,” Tegbe stated.
According to him, extensive engagement with major stakeholders in the electricity industry has helped drive recent progress. He explained that discussions with key institutions and agencies have focused on improving coordination and delivering better outcomes for consumers.
“I have engaged various key stakeholders in the sector, TCN, Ministry of Power, REA, NEC, everybody and they have given commitments. And that is what you are seeing today with improvements,” he added.
The minister also assured Nigerians that efforts are continuing to sustain the gains already recorded and strengthen the country’s electricity infrastructure.
The Federal Government has repeatedly identified the power sector as a critical component of economic growth, with improved electricity expected to support businesses, create jobs and enhance living standards nationwide.
Tegbe expressed optimism that ongoing reforms and stakeholder collaboration will lead to more stable and consistent electricity supply in the months ahead.
