Victor Wembanyama delivered a dominant performance on Thursday night as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-91 to force a decisive Game 7 in the Western Conference finals.

The Spurs star finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds in front of the home crowd, responding strongly after criticism following San Antonio’s defeat in Game 5. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson had challenged his team to get more from their young superstar, and Victor Wembanyama answered immediately.

The French sensation started the game in explosive fashion, knocking down two early three-pointers and producing a block within the opening 90 seconds. His fast start helped the Spurs take control early, and they never surrendered the lead.

Although the Thunder reduced the gap to five points shortly before half-time, the Spurs tightened their defence in the third quarter and completely took over the contest. San Antonio produced a stunning 20-0 scoring run while Oklahoma City endured nearly eight minutes without a basket.

The Thunder managed only 13 points in the third quarter, their lowest-scoring quarter of the season. With the game already decided heading into the final period, Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault rested key players including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Isaiah Hartenstein.

Gilgeous-Alexander finished with just 15 points on poor shooting, marking one of his quietest playoff performances in recent years.

The Spurs also received important contributions from the bench, with Dylan Harper scoring 18 points while Stephon Castle added 17 points and nine assists.

The series will now head back to Oklahoma City for a thrilling winner-takes-all Game 7, with the victor advancing to face the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals.

Can Victor Wembanyama lead the Spurs to a famous Game 7 victory on the road?
