Ghanaian international footballer Thomas Partey appeared before the Southwark Crown Court in London this Monday to address new legal challenges. The 32-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for the Spanish side Villarreal, entered a plea of not guilty to two additional charges of rape. These latest allegations involve a fourth complainant and are said to have occurred in December 2020.
This appearance adds to an ongoing and complex legal battle for the former Premier League star. Partey has consistently denied a series of previous accusations, including five counts of rape involving two women and a separate charge of sexual assault against a third individual. The alleged incidents reportedly took place between 2021 and 2022, during his high-profile tenure with Arsenal.
The midfielder first made headlines in the English top flight when he moved from Atletico Madrid to North London in a deal worth approximately 50 million euros. He remained a central figure in the Gunners’ starting lineup until his contract reached its conclusion at the end of last June. Following his departure from England, he secured a move to La Liga, though his past legal issues continue to follow him across borders.
As it stands, Thomas Partey remains out on bail. While his trial was originally scheduled to commence this coming November, the addition of these new charges and the complexities of the case suggest that the proceedings may face further delays. The court will continue to examine the evidence as the legal process moves toward a definitive trial date.
