Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod says actors love work more than wives, claiming that dedicated performers can prioritise their careers over their marriages and families.

He made the remarks on Thursday during an interview with Kasnasty Sugar on YouTube. His comments come months after his separation from his wife, Desola Afod.

Afod said his passion for acting outweighs his affection for his wife or anyone else. He added that creative people often struggle to balance their professional commitments with their relationships.

According to him, partners sometimes see acting as a rival because of the time and dedication the profession demands.

He also disclosed that he sometimes goes as long as six months without speaking to his children. However, he insisted that nothing would stop him from pursuing his career.

“I was born for this and I will die for it,” he said.

Afod further revealed that he once rejected an opportunity to relocate abroad because he did not want to abandon his acting career. He explained that people who genuinely love their profession may choose their work over their relationships.

“It’s only when you don’t love acting that you will consider leaving it for your wife or husband. But if you truly love the job, you will prefer to let go of anybody for it,” he said.

Kunle Afod says actors love work more than wives as he maintains that his commitment to filmmaking remains his priority despite the demands of family life.
