An outspoken Plateau State-based Christian cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has alleged that terrorists have placed a bounty on his life following his public outcry over what he described as the massacre of Christians.

Dachomo made the allegation during a recent interview with journalist Lucky Udu, stating that a trusted informant warned him of a plot to reward anyone who kills him.

According to the cleric, the alleged plan was finalized after he consistently spoke against what he termed genocide targeted at Christians in parts of the country.

“They have put a bounty on my head. They said anyone that kills me first will be rewarded,” Dachomo said.

Despite the alleged threat, the cleric said he remains undeterred and continues his daily activities without security protection, insisting that fear will not silence him.

“I am not afraid of death. I walk around without security. I even pass through Muslim territories, and they point at me,” he added.

Dachomo further alleged that his outspokenness has extended the consequences to his family, claiming that his children are being deliberately denied admission into universities, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

He alleged that admissions officials reportedly screen out his children based on his name due to his stance on the killings.

“If my children apply for university admission and they see the name Ezekiel Dachomo, they remove it,” the cleric claimed.

The allegations come amid ongoing concerns over insecurity, religious violence, and shrinking civic space in parts of Nigeria, with calls from rights groups for improved protection for vocal civil and religious leaders.
