Brazil, the eight-time defending champion, demonstrated their dominance on Wednesday at Estadio Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda in Quito, Ecuador, cruising to a 6-0 victory over Bolivia in the Women’s Copa America. From the start, Brazil controlled the pace, with Luany breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute with a powerful strike that hit the crossbar before going in.

The Atletico Madrid forward doubled her tally before halftime, capitalizing on a goalkeeper error after Kerolin’s shot. Luany’s influence continued as she won a penalty, calmly converted by captain Kerolin to extend Brazil’s lead to 3-0.

In the second half, Brazilian legend Marta came off the bench and quickly made an impact, assisting Kerolin’s second goal in the 79th minute. Kerolin completed her hat-trick just four minutes later, firmly sealing the match. Bolivia’s struggles worsened when Angelina Rivero received a second yellow card, leaving her team a player short. Substitute Amanda Gutierres rounded off the scoring deep into stoppage time.

Brazil’s emphatic win keeps them atop Group B, following their opening victory against Venezuela. They will look to maintain their momentum when they face Paraguay next Tuesday. Despite their strong start, Luany emphasized the team’s need for continuous improvement: “It’s the second game and in the first half we played well, but we needed to improve a lot.”

Speaking on her debut Copa America, Luany expressed her enthusiasm and commitment: “It’s my first Copa America, and being able to help my team is a dream. I’ll work harder to be able to help them until the final.”

With this dominant performance and key players in form, Brazil remains the clear favorite as they pursue yet another Copa America title.
