A former senator representing Jigawa Central, Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), formally registering with the party in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State.
Speaking after his registration, Nakudu said his exit from the APC was driven by the need to align with a more inclusive political platform that prioritises grassroots development and strengthens internal party democracy.
The former lawmaker expressed confidence that the ADC provides a viable alternative capable of addressing the socio-political and developmental challenges facing Jigawa State.
He also used the occasion to officially declare his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the ADC platform.
“Our decision follows extensive consultation and careful consideration. We are convinced that the ADC offers a credible platform to realise our vision for a better Jigawa,” he stated.
Nakudu’s defection adds to the growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as key actors continue to reposition across party lines.
