Erling Haaland scored his 25th goal in 26 international games on Tuesday to help Norway defeat Georgia 2-1 and maintain its chances of qualifying for the Euro 2024 tournament.

The 23-year-old attacker opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark, and eight minutes later, skipper Martin Odegaard doubled the advantage as the home team dominated the game at Oslo’s Ullevaal stadium.

However, while Norway needed all three points to stay in the running for one of the two Group A qualifying berths, Budu Zivzivadze shook the host team’s composure by rescuing Georgia with a goal in stoppage time.

Stale Solbakken, the manager of Norway, claimed that as the game went on, his team’s threat level increased.

“A little bit of a slow start, but we were in complete control. They were quite stealthy while closing. Then we become progressively riskier,” he continued.

Before they scored a small goal out of nowhere, “We have full control for a long time.”

After five games, Norway sits in third place in the group, eight points behind Scotland’s lead and two points behind Spain, who has played one fewer game.
