Four senior commanders of the Boko Haram terrorist organization’s Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd have turned themselves in to Nigerian forces in Borno State.

The Commanders, Mala’ana (Khaid), Abu Dauda (Munzir), Modu Yalee (Commander), and Bin Diska (Nakif), according to leadership reports, surrendered their weapons to Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) soldiers on December 12, 2022, as they patrolled the Gwoza LAG of the State.

Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region, confirmed the development by revealing that the militants emerged from the Sambisa jungle, where they had been hiding out and waging terror attacks against the State.

They were reportedly previous commanders of Abubakar Shekau at the Njimiya camp, but after the invasion of the Sambisa Forest in May 2021—which resulted in Shekau’s death—they gave up their weapons and moved to join ISWAP in the Lake Chad.
