Omoyele Sowore says military cannot stop peaceful protesters during Abuja demonstration.

|By Adekunle Adejumo – Omoyele Sowore says military cannot stop peaceful protesters from accessing the Presidential Villa, arguing that security personnel have no legal right to block citizens during peaceful demonstrations.

The activist made the remarks on Thursday during a protest in Abuja. The demonstration aimed to draw government attention to the worsening security situation across Nigeria.

According to Sowore, soldiers stationed near the entrance of the Presidential Villa prevented protesters from moving closer to the complex. However, he said the group chose not to confront security operatives because the protest remained peaceful.

Speaking to supporters, Omoyele Sowore says military cannot stop peaceful protesters from exercising their rights. He insisted that citizens should not fear security agencies, describing them as public servants funded by taxpayers.

Sowore also declared that the Presidential Villa belongs to Nigerians. He argued that citizens have a right to make their voices heard and should not be restricted during lawful protests.

Furthermore, he said protesters intentionally avoided any action that could trigger a clash with soldiers or police officers. The activist added that mothers and children joined the march to highlight the peaceful nature of the demonstration.

Meanwhile, the protest focused on growing concerns over insecurity and the need for stronger action from authorities. Organisers urged the government to address security challenges affecting communities across the country.

As the demonstration ended, Omoyele Sowore says military cannot stop peaceful protesters remained the central message delivered by the activist and his supporters.
