The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed former presidential candidate and publisher, Dele Momodu, describing him as a “serial political tourist” with no electoral credibility to advise the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party was reacting to Momodu’s recent suggestion that the opposition should deploy ethnic and religious strategy to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the APC said Nigeria had moved past divisive politics, insisting performance — not tribal sentiment — will determine the next election.

Oladejo mocked Momodu’s political history, saying his past presidential outing was so insignificant that “even his polling agents couldn’t locate his tally on the result sheet,” adding that his political relevance is confined to “social media timelines and editorial commentary.”

He argued that under Tinubu, Nigeria is undergoing infrastructural renewal, economic stabilisation and social investment driven by equity and reform — proof that leadership is won by competence, not identity politics.

“The 2027 election will be a referendum on performance, not ethnicity or nostalgia,” Oladejo declared, warning the opposition to stop taking strategy lessons from people “who have never won even a councillorship election.”
