The Federal Government has raised the cost of obtaining a Nigerian passport, with the new rates set to take effect on September 1, 2025.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) spokesman, A.S. Akinlabi, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, noting that the increment is part of efforts to safeguard the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, scheduled to roll out on September 1, 2025.

Under the revised fees, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while a 64-page passport with 10-year validity will go for ₦200,000.

Akinlabi clarified that the adjustment applies only to passport applications within Nigeria. Nigerians in the diaspora will continue to pay $150 for a 32-page passport with five-year validity and $230 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity.

He assured that despite the upward review, the service remains committed to balancing quality delivery with accessibility for all Nigerians.
